Auto Assembly 2009 announces fifteenth guest!

We'd like to thank Simon Plumbe for dropping us a line and giving us another update on the now rapidly approaching Auto Assembly 2009 Transformers convention.

As the date for Auto Assembly 2009 draws nearer, we are still adding to our extensive list of activities throughout the weekend and we are now pleased to announce that we are now being joined by our FIFTEENTH guest for the convention...

Joining us for the SUNDAY ONLY is comic artist Jon Davis-Hunt. Jon has recently joined the team working on Titan Magazine's Transformers comic as their new regular artist for their UK-originated strip, although he has produced cover artwork for them previously. He has also worked for IDW on the adaptation of Revenge Of The Fallen and was one of the artists for 2000 AD. Prior to switching to the comic industry, Jon previously worked in the video games industry.

Jon will be taking to the stage along with some of our other comic guests on Sunday

(our comic panels will be split throughout the weekend) and he will be joining the rest of our comic guests in our guest area to sign autographs and meet fans.

Jon is joining what is the biggest ever line-up of guests seen at a European Transformers event which currently includes our two guests of honour Gregg Berger (G1 Grimlock), Ian James Corlett (Cheetor), and our comic guests - Andrew Wildman (Saturday only), Simon Williams, Staz Johnson, Nick Roche, Liam Shalloo, Lew Stringer (Saturday only), Jason Cardy, Kat Nicholson, Lee Bradley, Lee Sullivan, Mike Collins, and Kris Carter. As we have three guests who will only be able to attend for a single day, the ONLY way you will get to meet all of our guests this year is to attend for the FULL weekend!

We have a very limited number of single tickets available for the Sunday, but plenty of weekend tickets available. More single day passes for Saturday may be released soon but with the convention being less than four weeks away, you need to hurry to pre-register for what will be the biggest ever Transformers convention that Europe has ever seen!

Transformers Mosaic: “Blackup.”

The Universe of the Transformers is vast, and populated by many characters. Their universe is a large tapestry, made up of the stories and points of view of countless experiences that serve the larger whole.

These are some of those stories. This is:
;quot;Blackup.;quot;

It should be noted that while this project has been recognized by IDW Publishing and Hasbro, none of the works presented have been commissioned or solicited by either company. The stories are not official canon, except where noted. These stories are the result of Transformers enthusiasts taking the time out of their busy days to contribute to a universe they love. No one has been paid for the production of these stories.

Transformers ROTF Scouts Ejector And Nightbeat Found At Target

Like it says, with all the new wave sightings recently, it might be time for people to start stopping at Targets whenever conventient.

According to our friend Jimmerz, the toys are out on the shelf at a Target in Seattle, Washington.

ROTF Nightbeat is the repaint of Dead End (Scout) in G1 Nightbeat colors, and ROTF Ejector is a brand new mold representing the famous 'kitchen mayhem' scene from the movie. His alt mode, not quite a soda pop dispensor, but he is a toaster!

Transformers ROTF Target Exclusive Bruticus Maximus Found At Retail

Well, the finder, Christoph Prime, has an image of the toy in package with Target receipt. This is the first sighting we have heard of the toy at retail, in fact, we have all been wondering when we might see it, as many of us expected to see it come out with the Superion exclusive.

Since this is only one sighting, take it easy on the 'run out to Target now' trips, but if you are in the area of a Target it couldn't hurt to go in and check.

This toy was 1 of 2 found at a Target in Colorado.

Bruticus Maximus is a repaint of the Energon/Superlink toy of the same name, but the characters, for the most part, have names now that harken back to their Generation One counterparts more.

Transformers ROTF Thrust Images- New Head Mold

The repaint of Transformers ROTF Breakaway has been on many people's to buy lists, especially after they found out it had a new head mold. Unfortunately, it does not look like the previous problems with Breakaway's head have been solved (limited to no movement).

Thrust joins his seeker comrades Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Ramjet as part of the Revenge of the Fallen line.

You can see all the shared images here and a small sample below, showing the new, very generation one looking, head mold off.

Simon Furman Interviewed At Transformers Hispanos

The Transformers Hispanos boards have posted an interview that they conducted with Transformers comic book scribe/historian/fan, Simon Furman.

Check out the translated version of what Simon had to say here.

A few excerpts:
"5. You always seem to have a lot on your plate! So what other projects are you working on right now? Any news or teasers you can throw in about The Thirteen?

SF) The Thirteen is probably not going to happen for a while, as it;rsquo;s become more of a Hasbro thing than an IDW thing, and Hasbro need to crystallise the whole concept before it can be turned into a comic book. I think and hope it will still happen, as it;rsquo;s a story I;rsquo;d dearly love to tell, but I have no firm grasp or when or in what form it will eventually see print. Other than that, I;rsquo;m working on Tales of the Fallen for IDW, Transformers UK vol 2 for Titan, Starcraft for Wildstorm, a movie script and I have two books out in June: Transformers: The Movie Universe and Rad Robots."

"7. I usually say you are to Transformers what Straczynski was to Spider-man (you made it look fresh again and more mature than it had been before). My little brother calls you ;ldquo;the Chris Claremont of Transformers;rdquo; and I think you can understand why. I read somewhere that you;rsquo;ve actually been influenced by Claremont;rsquo;s X-men multiple subplots...

SF) Yeah, I got a lot out of Claremont;rsquo;s X-Men run. Mostly how well he managed multiple characters and sub-plots, something I;rsquo;ve applied to my Transformers work as much as I can ever since. I always love to have other storylines building in the background while the main action is unfolding. The sense of brooding mysterious things to come helps maintain momentum in a monthly comic, I think. But right from the get-go, I never tried to tell anything but ;lsquo;mature;rsquo; stories in what was primarily a kid;rsquo;s comic. I hated dumb or lazy storytelling when I was a kid and reading comics, so I wasn;rsquo;t going to inflict that on my audience."

"14. Now, saw this somewhere else and liked how it turned out so let;rsquo;s do some word association if that;rsquo;s ok with you.

- Beast Wars ;ndash; Bob Forward, lovely chap and he really got me going on the TV animation side of things.
- Animated ;ndash; Fun! I like their dumb, lovestruck Dinobots.
- Grimlock ;ndash; Greg Berger, another lovely chap.
- Nemesis Prime - Badass
- G2 ;ndash; Some of the most fun I;rsquo;ve had in the many worlds of Transformers.
- WW Age of Wrath ;ndash; Unfinished business!"
